In the 2023-24 School year, we are working with Java. I thought it might be interesting to see how this plays out with some students taking the AP exam for computer science A. Given that I knew nothing about college board leading into the Java year, I did not realize the hurdles necessary to become a testing site or get access to the actual AP Classroom. I have been working with ECTS admin to push something through for AP classroom, but this is seeming unlikely for the current year. Nonetheless, we may be able to take the test at a sending school, so we may push through. If we do, we will be working from resources publicly available for specific preparations. This page is here to help with recording that list of potentially helpful preparation resources.

Testing Sites:
According to college board’s ledger in 2023-24, the following school districts could administer the Computer Science A exam. Note: This does not necessarily mean they offer a course to go along with it, they are just registered as able to administer the test.
- McDowell
- Seneca (Wattsburg)
- Fort LeBoeuf
- Fairview (note: in 2023-24 Fairview offered their students free access the AP classroom and made it free for them to take the exam)
